«إذا قلت لصاحبك: أنصت، والإمام يخطب يوم الجمعة، فقد لغوت»

- Malik ibn Anas
- Abd Allah ibn Dhakwan Abu al-Zinad
- Abd al-Rahman ibn Hurmuz al-A'raj
- Abu Hurayra
Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on listening quietly on Friday while the imam preaches. Yahya transmits from Malik from Abu al-Zinad from al-A'raj from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him): the Prophet ﷺ told that whoever says "be quiet" to his companion while the imam preaches on Friday has spoken in vain. The editor cites Ahmad, al-Darimi, Abd al-Razzaq, al-Shafi'i, al-Bayhaqi and al-Baghawi, and notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that Malik had two chains for it: this one, and Ibn Shihab from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab from Abu Hurayra. Yahya transmitted from Malik only the chain of Abu al-Zinad; al-Qa'nabi, Ibn al-Qasim and Ibn Wahb combined the two (al-Tamhid). 1 2
