«إذا توضأ العبد المسلم أو المؤمن فغسل وجهه خرجت من وجهه كل خطيئة نظر إليها بعينيه مع الماء أو مع آخر قطر الماء»

A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources

Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih from his father from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), in the chapter on general rules of ablution: when a Muslim washes his face, every sin his eyes looked at leaves with the water or the last drop; when he washes his hands, every sin his hands seized leaves them, until he comes out clean of sins. The editor notes that al-Baji said the phrase "or the believer" is a doubt of the narrator, and that mention of two men in some copies is not from Yahya's transmission but Ibn Wahb's addition from Malik, as Ibn Abd al-Barr said. He cites Muslim, al-Tirmidhi, al-Darimi, Ibn Khuzayma and Ibn Hibban. 1 2
