Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibn Yasar as a mursal, in the chapter on the times of prayer. A man asked the Prophet about the time of the dawn prayer; he did not answer in words, but prayed the dawn prayer the next day as the dawn broke, and then the following day after it had lightened, then called the questioner and said the time lies between these two. The editor notes it is mursal by agreement of Muwatta's transmitters. 1
