Summary

The first hadith in the chapter on the prohibition of praying at the height of noon. Yahya transmits from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Ata ibn Yasar as a mursal: the Prophet ﷺ ordered that prayer be delayed when the heat is intense until it breaks, because the intensity of heat is from the breath of Hell. He said the Fire complained to its Lord that some of it devoured other parts, so it was given permission to breathe twice each year, once in winter and once in summer. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd transmitted it from Malik. 1
