Summary

Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said that the Messenger of God ﷺ encouraged jihad and mentioned Paradise, while a man of the Ansar was eating dates in his hand. He said: I am eager for this world if I sit until I finish them. He threw away what was in his hand, took his sword and fought until he was killed. The editor notes that the hadith is connected and well known from the hadith of Jabir ibn Abdullah (may God be pleased with him) in the two Sahihs. 1
