Summary

Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said, from Said ibn Abi Said al-Maqburi, from Abdullah ibn Abi Qatada, from his father, that a man came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: Messenger of God, if I am killed in God's path, patient, seeking reward, advancing and not turning back, will God expiate my sins for me? The Messenger of God said: yes. When the man turned back, the Messenger of God called him, or ordered him called, and said: how did you say it? He repeated his words to him, and he said: yes, except for debt; so Gabriel told me. The editor notes that Ibn Abd al-Barr considered the meaning connected. 1
