Summary
Malik transmits from Abdallah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Maamar al-Ansari, from Ata ibn Yasar, that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: shall I not tell you of the best of people in station? A man who holds the rein of his horse, striving in God's path; then the best of people in station after him: a man who withdraws in a flock, establishes prayer, pays zakat, and worships God without associating anything with Him. The editor notes that Ibn Abd al-Barr said it is relayed in Malik's transmission, that it is connected through sound routes from the Prophet, and that it is narrated connected from Ibn Abbas. 1
