«لا ينكح المحرم، ولا ينكح، ولا يخطب»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi, from Nubayh ibn Wahb, brother of Banu Abd al-Dar, that Umar ibn Ubaydallah sent to Aban ibn Uthman, who was then the leader of the pilgrims, and both were in ihram, that he wanted to marry Talha ibn Umar to the daughter of Shayba ibn Jubayr, and wanted Aban to attend. Aban refused and said: I heard Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him) say: the Messenger of God ﷺ said: the one in ihram does not marry, nor is he married, nor does he propose. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1177) and Suwayd (331 and 565) and others transmitted it from Malik. 1
