«اذهب إلى شربة فادلك رأسك حتى تنقيه»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
Malik transmits from al-Salt ibn Zubayd from several of his household, that Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) found the scent of perfume while he was at al-Shajara, and beside him was Kathir ibn al-Salt. He said: whose scent is this perfume? Kathir said: it is from me, Commander of the Faithful; I stiffened my hair and wanted to shave. Umar said: go to the sharaba, rub your head until you clean it; Kathir did so. Malik says that the sharaba is a pit found at the foot of a palm tree. The editor notes that Abu Musab (1058), Suwayd (492) and al-Shaybani (403) transmitted it from Malik. 1
