Summary
Malik was asked about a man who entered the mosque for seclusion during the last ten nights of Ramadan, stayed a day or two, then fell ill and left the mosque: must he, once well, complete the rest of the ten nights, or is it not obligatory, and in which month should he be in seclusion if it is obligatory? Malik said: he makes up what was obligatory of seclusion when he is well, in Ramadan or otherwise; and it reached him that the Messenger of God ﷺ wished to be in seclusion in Ramadan, then returned and did not enter seclusion, until when Ramadan had passed he was in seclusion for ten days of Shawwal. The editor notes that Abu Musab (877) transmitted it from Malik. 1
