Summary
A saying of Malik: I have not heard anyone of knowledge mention a condition in seclusion; seclusion is an act like prayer, fasting and the pilgrimage, whether obligatory or voluntary; whoever enters it acts by what has passed of the Sunna, and he may not introduce anything other than what the Muslims followed, neither a condition he stipulates nor an innovation. The Messenger of God was in seclusion, and the Muslims knew the Sunna of seclusion. The editor notes that Abu Musab (870 and 874) and Suwayd transmitted it from Malik. 1
