Chain of transmission
Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Ubaydallah ibn Abdallah ibn Utba ibn Masud, from Abdullah ibn Abbas (may God be pleased with him), from Maymuna, that the Prophet ﷺ was asked about a mouse that falls into butter; he said: take it out and what is around it, and throw it away. The editor sets out the variation in the routes of the hadith from Malik, and Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that Yahya's version is the best, while Ibn Bukayr and Abu Musab transmitted it as relayed (mursal). 1
