Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Ubayd Allah ibn Abdallah ibn Utba ibn Masud, that a man from the Ansar came to the Messenger with a black slave-girl of his, and said: Messenger of God, I owe a believing neck to be freed; if you see her as a believer, let me free her. The Messenger said to her: do you testify that there is no god but God? She said yes. He said: do you testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of God ﷺ? She said yes. He said: do you believe in resurrection after death? She said yes. The Messenger said: free her. 1
