Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Umama ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf (may God be pleased with him), from Abdullah ibn Abbas (may God be pleased with him), from Khalid ibn al-Walid (may God be pleased with him), that he entered with the Prophet ﷺ into the house of Maymuna. A lizard roasted on hot stones was brought, and the Prophet reached out his hand to it. Some women said: tell the Messenger of God what he wants to eat, for it is a lizard. He lifted his hand. Khalid asked him: is it forbidden? He said: no, but it is not in the land of my people, and I find I dislike it. Khalid ate it while the Prophet watched. The editor notes that Ibn Abbas was present at the story, which is supported by the hadith of Ibn al-Munkadir from Abu Umama. 1
