Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Umama ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf (may God be pleased with him), who said: Amir ibn Rabia saw Sahl ibn Hunayf washing and said: I have never seen anything like today, not even a hidden virgin's skin. Sahl was struck and fell down. The Messenger of God was told: Messenger of God, do you want Sahl ibn Hunayf? By God, he cannot lift his head. He said: do you suspect anyone of him? They said: we suspect Amir ibn Rabia. He called Amir, was angry with him, and said: why would one of you kill his brother? Why did you not bless him? Wash for him. Amir washed his face, his hands, his elbows, his knees, the tips of his feet, and the inside of his waist-wrapper in a bowl; it was poured over Sahl, and Sahl went out with the people with no ailment. The editor notes that Abu Umama, though counted among the Companions, heard this from his father. 1
