Summary
Malik transmits from Khubayb ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Ansari, from Hafs ibn Asim, from Abu Said al-Khudri (may God be pleased with him) or from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: seven whom God will shade in His shade on a day when there is no shade but His: a just ruler; a young man who grew up in the worship of God; a man whose heart is attached to the mosque; two men who loved each other for God, met on that and parted on it; a man who remembered God in solitude and his eyes overflowed; a man whom a woman of rank and beauty invited, and he said: I fear God; and a man who gave charity and hid it so that his left hand does not know what his right hand spends. The editor notes that most of Malik's students doubted whether the transmitter was Abu Hurayra or Abu Said, and that the hadith is preserved for Abu Hurayra through Ubaydallah ibn Umar. 1
