Summary
Yahya narrated to me from Malik, from Ibn Hamas, from his uncle, from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), that the Prophet ﷺ said: Medina will be left in its best state, until a dog or wolf enters and feeds on some of the pillars of the mosque or on the pulpit. They asked: then to whom will the fruits belong in that time? He said: to the 'awafi, the birds and the beasts. The editor records Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that Yahya's version, which does not name Ibn Hamas, is safer than the confusion over his name among Malik's students. 1
