Summary
Yahya ibn Said narrated to Malik that the Prophet ﷺ was taken on the night journey and saw a demon of the jinn pursuing him with a flame of fire; whenever the Prophet turned, he saw it. Gabriel said to him: shall I teach you words to say, and when you say them its flame will go out and it will fall on its face? The Prophet said: yes. Gabriel said: say: I seek refuge in the noble face of God and in the perfect words of God which no righteous or wicked person can exceed, from the evil of what descends from the sky, the evil of what ascends in it, the evil of what He created in the earth, the trials of night and day, and the visitors of the night except one who visits with good. The editor notes that most reports give its text, and that Ahmad, Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi and others transmitted it from the hadith of Abdullah ibn Amr. 1
