Chain of transmission

  1. Malik ibn Anas
  2. Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Ansari
  3. Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab

Summary

Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Said, from Said ibn al-Musayyab, who said: Abraham was the first of people to host a guest, the first to be circumcised, the first to trim his moustache, and the first to see grey hair and say: O Lord, what is this? God said: dignity, Abraham. He said: Lord, increase my dignity. The editor notes that this report is halted (mawquf) in Malik's transmission, while its raised form is in al-Bukhari and Muslim from al-Zuhri from Said ibn al-Musayyab from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him). 1
