Overview
Jibril, the angel whom God entrusted with the revelation. The Prophet asked him, in the well-known hadith of faith, about Islam, faith, excellence and the Hour and its signs; Umar relates that they wondered at his asking and his affirming. 1 He is the one who brought the revelation in the cave of Hira', saying "Read". 2 He took the Prophet up on the night of the Ascension as far as the Lote-tree of the Utmost Boundary. 3 He used to meet the Prophet in Ramadan and review the Qur'an with him. 4
Notes for researchers
- The meaning of "the Lote-tree of the Utmost Boundary" and its interpretation need an additional source; the text here mentions only the hadith, without commentary.
