Summary
Malik says he saw people of knowledge recommend giving the fast-breaking zakat when dawn breaks on the day of the feast, before going out to the prayer ground. The editor notes that Abu Musab transmitted it from Malik; that it is also reported from Nafi from Ibn Umar that the Prophet ﷺ commanded it to be given before going out to the prayer on the feast day, a sound hadith in al-Bukhari and Muslim; and that al-Tirmidhi said after it that this is what people of knowledge recommend. 1
