Chain of transmission
Summary
The first report in the chapter on zakat on debt. Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from al-Saib ibn Yazid, that Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him) used to say: this is the month of your zakat; whoever owes a debt should pay it, until your property is gathered and you pay zakat from it. The editor notes that one copy reads 'from it', and that Abu Musab, al-Shafii and al-Shaybani transmitted it from Malik, and that Abu Ubayd and al-Bayhaqi transmitted it through Ibrahim ibn Sad and Shu'ayb from al-Zuhri. 1
