Chain of transmission
Summary
The only hadith in the chapter on the permission to recite the Qur'an without ablution. Yahya transmits from Malik from Ayyub ibn Abi Tamima al-Sakhtiyani from Muhammad ibn Sirin: Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) was among a group reciting the Qur'an. He went to relieve himself and came back still reciting, and a man said to him, "Do you recite the Qur'an while you are not in ablution?". Umar disapproved and asked who had given him that ruling, Musaylima? The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab transmitted it from Malik. 1
