Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab from Ubayd Allah ibn Abdullah ibn Utba ibn Mas'ud from his father Abdullah ibn Utba, in the chapter on the total of the forenoon prayer: he came to Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) at midday and found him praying a voluntary prayer. He stood behind him, and Umar brought him up until he stood level with him on his right. When Yarfa, Umar's chamberlain, came, he stepped back and they formed a row behind him. The editor identifies Yarfa as Umar's chamberlain, and notes that Abu Mus'ab, Suwayd and Muhammad ibn al-Hasan transmitted it. 1
