Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Makhrama ibn Sulayman from Kurayb, client of Ibn Abbas, from Abdullah ibn Abbas (may God be pleased with him), in the chapter on the Prophet ﷺ's witr prayer: Ibn Abbas spent a night with his maternal aunt Maymuna, the Prophet's wife. He lay across the width of the pillow while the Prophet and his wife lay along its length. The Prophet slept until about midnight, woke, sat rubbing the sleep from his face, and recited the last ten verses of Al Imran. He then went to a hanging water-skin, performed ablution well, and prayed. Ibn Abbas stood and did the same, then stood beside him. The Prophet put his right hand on his head and took his right ear and twisted it, and prayed two rak'as, then two, six times, then the witr, then lay down until the caller came to him, prayed two light rak'as, and went out for the dawn prayer. The editor cites al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, al-Nasa'i and Ibn Khuzayma, and refers to al-Tamhid. 1 2
