«الذي يرفع رأسه ويخفضه قبل الإمام فإنما ناصيته بيد شيطان»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
The first report in the chapter on one who raises his head before the imam. Yahya transmits from Malik from Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Alqama from Mulayh ibn Abdullah al-Sa'di from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), as his own saying: whoever raises and lowers his head before the imam, his forelock is in the hand of a devil. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Suwayd transmitted it. Ibn Abd al-Barr says Malik transmitted it stopped with no disagreement, and that al-Darawardi raised it, which is not sound except as stopped by this chain. The editor adds that the Sahihayn contain, from Abu Hurayra raised, the warning that whoever raises his head before the imam, God will make his head a donkey's head. 1
