«إذا اشتد الحر فأبردوا عن الصلاة، فإن شدة الحر من فيح جهنم»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Abdullah ibn Yazid, client of al-Aswad ibn Sufyan, from Abu Salama ibn Abd al-Rahman and from Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Thawban, both from Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him), in the chapter on the prohibition of praying at noon: the Prophet ﷺ ordered prayer to be delayed when the heat is intense, because its intensity is from the breath of Hell, and mentioned the Fire's complaint to its Lord and His permission for it to breathe twice a year. The editor cites Muslim, Ahmad, al-Bayhaqi and al-Tahawi, and refers to al-Tamhid. 1
