Summary

The first report in the chapter on recitation at dawn. Yahya transmits from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may God be pleased with him) led the dawn prayer and recited the surah of al-Baqara in both rak'as. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab, al-Shafi'i and Yahya ibn Bukayr in al-Bayhaqi transmitted it from Malik, and that Abd al-Razzaq transmitted the same text and chain from Hisham. 1
