«إني نظرت إلى علمها في الصلاة»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
A report that Malik transmits as a mursal from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father, in the chapter on looking during prayer at what distracts you: the Prophet ﷺ wore a striped cloak, then gave it to Abu Jahm and took from him his plain thick cloak without designs. When Abu Jahm asked him why, he said he had looked at its designs in prayer. The editor notes that Ibn Abd al-Barr said it is mursal for all transmitters of Malik except Ma'n ibn Isa, who connected it through Hisham from his father from Aisha, which Hisham's students also transmitted connected. Al-Zuhri transmitted it from Urwa from Aisha. He cites al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, al-Nasa'i and Ahmad for the connected forms, and refers to al-Tamhid. 1 2
