«رأى رسول الله يصلي في ثوب واحد مشتملاً به في بيت أم سلمة واضعاً طرفيه على عاتقيه»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on permission to pray in a single garment. Yahya transmits from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father from Umar ibn Abi Salama, who saw the Prophet ﷺ pray in a single garment in the house of Umm Salama, wrapped in it with its two ends placed on his shoulders. The editor cites al-Nasa'i, al-Baghawi and al-Jawhari from Malik's transmitters, and notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that the chain and wording did not differ from Malik, and Hisham's students transmitted it the same way (al-Tamhid). 1
