«هل تدري ما مثلك يا أبا سلمة؟ مثل الفروج يسمع الديكة تصرخ فيصرخ معها»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Abu al-Nadr, mawla of Umar ibn Ubayd Allah
- Abu Salama ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Abu al-Nadr, client of Umar ibn Ubayd Allah, from Abu Salama ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf (may God be pleased with him), in the chapter on what makes the bath obligatory when the two circumcised parts meet: Abu Salama asked Aisha what makes the bath obligatory. She compared the matter to a man who hears roosters crowing and crows with them, and then told him that the bath is required when the circumcised part passes the circumcised part. The editor notes that Abu Mus'ab and Ibn Wahb transmitted it briefly in al-Tahawi, and that Abd al-Razzaq, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan and Yahya ibn Bukayr transmitted it in al-Bayhaqi. 1 2
