«نعم، فلتغتسل»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on a woman bathing when she sees in a dream what a man sees. Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab from Urwa ibn al-Zubayr: Umm Sulaym asked the Prophet ﷺ about a woman who sees in a dream what a man sees, whether she must bathe. He said yes, let her bathe. Aisha said to her in disapproval, "Shame on you! Does a woman see that?" The Prophet said to her, "May your right hand be dusted; from where would the resemblance come?", meaning the child's resemblance to its mother. The editor notes Ibn Abd al-Barr's view that most transmitters of the Muwatta gave it as a mursal from Urwa, and that Ibn Abi al-Wazir and Abdullah ibn Nafi' gave it from Urwa from Aisha, while Yunus, Uqayl and others gave it from Ibn Shihab from Urwa from Aisha, and that it is sound through Ibn Shihab from Urwa from Aisha. 1
