Summary

A report that Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab from Urwa ibn al-Zubayr from Aisha, in the chapter on the forenoon prayer: she never saw the Prophet ﷺ pray the voluntary forenoon prayer, though she liked it. The Prophet would leave off an act he loved to do, fearing people would do it and it would be made obligatory on them. The editor notes that the word "I would like it" is Yahya's, while other transmitters said "I would glorify him", as al-Zurqani reports. The editor cites al-Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i in al-Kubra and Ahmad, and refers to al-Tamhid. 1
