Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Sa'id that he heard Sa'id ibn al-Musayyab asked about cleaning after relieving oneself with water. He said that this is only the ablution of women, in the chapter on general rules of ablution. The editor understands that Sa'id meant cleaning with stones suffices a man, and that cleaning with water is specifically for women. He cites Ibn Abi Shayba's report of Sa'id being told of cleaning with water: "You did that, and they used to make do with stones". 1
