Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Ansari
- Abdallah ibn Ka'b, mawla of Uthman
Summary
A report that Malik transmits from Yahya ibn Sa'id from Abdullah ibn Ka'b, client of Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him), in the chapter on what makes the bath obligatory when the two circumcised parts meet: Mahmud ibn Labid al-Ansari asked Zayd ibn Thabit (may God be pleased with him) about a man who has intercourse with his wife, grows lazy, and does not ejaculate. Zayd said he must bathe. Mahmud said Ubayy ibn Ka'b did not require bathing, and Zayd told him that Ubayy had retracted that before he died. The editor explains nazi' as to refrain, turn back and return, and notes that Abu Mus'ab, Ibn Wahb in al-Tahawi, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan and Yahya ibn Bukayr in al-Bayhaqi transmitted it from Malik. 1 2
