Summary
The first hadith in the chapter on the fasting of one who rises in a state of major impurity (janaba). Malik transmits from Abdallah ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Mamar al-Ansari, from Abu Yunus, client of Aisha, from Aisha, that a man said to the Prophet ﷺ while he stood at the door: I rise in a state of major impurity and I want to fast. The Prophet said: I too rise in a state of major impurity and I want to fast, so I wash and fast. The man said: you are not like us; God has forgiven you what came before and after your sins. The Prophet became angry and said: by God, I hope I am the most God-fearing of you and the most knowing of what I should guard against. The editor notes that the phrase 'wife of the Prophet' is not in copy M, and that Abu Musab, Ismail ibn Umar, Rawh ibn Ubada, Suwayd, al-Qa'nabi in Abu Dawud (2389), Yahya ibn Bukayr and others transmitted it. 1
