Chain of transmission
- Malik ibn Anas
- Muhammad ibn Shihab al-Zuhri
- Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf
Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Humayd ibn Abd al-Rahman, that Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) and Uthman ibn Affan (may God be pleased with him) used to pray the sunset prayer when they saw the black night before breaking their fast, and then break their fast after the prayer, in Ramadan. The editor notes that Abu Musab, Suwayd, al-Qa'nabi and al-Tinnisi (al-Bukhari 1957) transmitted it from Malik, and that Abd al-Razzaq (7588) transmitted it from Mamar from al-Zuhri. 1
