Summary
Malik says that the best he has heard about what a man owes for fast-breaking charity is that a man pays it on behalf of everyone whose support he is responsible for and must provide for. He pays it for his contract-freed slave (mukatab), his slave freed on his death (mudabbar) and his slaves, all of them, whether absent or present, whether Muslim or not, whether held for trade or not; for a non-Muslim, no zakat is due. The editor notes that in copy M it reads 'I heard', and that Abu Musab transmitted it from Malik. 1
