Summary
A saying of Malik: Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) distinguished between pulses and wheat in what he took from the Nabat, and held that pulses are one kind, so he took a tenth from them, and half a tenth from wheat and raisins. Malik answers someone who asks how pulses are gathered for zakat when two can be taken for one hand to hand, unlike wheat: gold and silver are gathered together in charity, and with one dinar a man may take many times its value in silver hand to hand. The editor notes that the word 'all' in copy M has no basis; Abu Musab transmitted it from Malik. 1
