Summary
Malik said of a conditionally freed slave who wounds a man and his master hands him over to the wounded man, then the master dies owing a debt and leaving no other property: the heirs say: we hand him over to the owner of the wound; the creditor says: I will add to that; for if a creditor adds something, he has the better claim to it, and the amount the creditor added beyond the blood-money of the wound is deducted from the one owing the debt. If he adds nothing, he does not take the slave. 1
