Summary
Malik said: the agreed practice among us regarding a conditionally freed slave is that his master may not sell him, nor move him from the place where he placed him. If his master is burdened by debt, his creditors cannot sell him while his master lives. If his master dies with no debt on him, he is in his third, because the master stipulated his service while he lived, so he may not have him serve for life and then free him from the heirs' capital. 1
