Summary
Yahya said: Malik said, from Ibn Shihab, from Sunayn Abu Jamila, a man of the Banu Sulaym, that he found an abandoned child in the time of Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him). He brought it to Umar, who said: what led you to take this soul? He said: I found it lost and took it. His overseer said: Commander of the Believers, he is a righteous man. Umar asked him: is that so? He said yes. Umar ibn al-Khattab said: go, he is free, and you have his patronage, and we will bear his maintenance. 1
