«إني بعثت إلى أهل البقيع لأصلي عليهم»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
Malik transmits from Alqama ibn Abi Alqama, from his mother, that she heard Aisha say: the Prophet ﷺ got up one night, put on his clothes and went out. Aisha ordered my slave-girl Barira to follow him. She followed him until he came to al-Baqi, where he stood at its edge as long as God willed, then went back. Barira overtook him and told me; I did not mention it to him until the morning. Then I mentioned it to him, and he said: he was sent to the people of al-Baqi to pray for them. The editor notes that Abu Musab, Suwayd, al-Qanabi and Ibn al-Qasim in al-Nasai and al-Kubra transmitted it from Malik, and cites al-Tamhid (20/110). 1
