«اللهم إن كان محسناً، فزد في إحسانه، وإن كان مسيئاً، فتجاوز عنه سيئاته. اللهم لا تحرمنا أجره، ولا تفتنا بعده»
A verbatim excerpt of the text, forty words at most; the full text is in the edition cited under sources
Summary
The first report in the chapter on what the worshipper says over a funeral. Malik transmits from Said ibn Abi Said al-Maqburi, from his father, that he asked Abu Hurayra (may God be pleased with him) how to pray over a funeral. He said: by the life of God, I will tell you: follow it from its people, and when it is placed down, say takbir, praise God, and bless His Prophet, then I say: O God, your servant, son of your servant and son of your handmaid, who bore witness that there is no god but You and that Muhammad is Your servant and Your messenger, and You know him best. O God, if he was a doer of good, increase his good; if he was a doer of evil, forgive his evils. O God, do not deprive us of his reward, nor tempt us after him. The editor notes that Abu Musab, Suwayd and Abd al-Razzaq transmitted it from Malik. 1
