Summary
Yahya transmits from Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Bakr ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham (may God be pleased with him), and from Abu Masud al-Ansari, that the Messenger forbade the price of a dog, the mahr of a prostitute, and the gift of a soothsayer. The mahr of a prostitute is what a woman is given for adultery, and the gift of a soothsayer is his bribe, what is given so that he will divine. The editor notes that Ibn Abd al-Barr thought the words 'and from Abu Masud' in Yahya's copy were an error, and that the report is preserved from Abu Bakr from Abu Masud. 1
