Summary
Yahya transmits from Malik, from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr (may God be pleased with him), from Amra bint Abd al-Rahman, that Aisha, mother of the believers, told her that the Messenger was with her and she heard a man ask permission to enter Hafsa's house. Aisha said: Messenger of God, a man is asking permission to enter your house. The Prophet said: I think it is so-and-so, the paternal uncle of Hafsa through fosterage. Aisha said: Messenger of God, if so-and-so, her paternal uncle through fosterage, were alive, would he enter upon me? The Prophet said: yes, for fosterage forbids what birth forbids. The editor notes that Hafsa's fosterage uncle was a brother of Umar ibn al-Khattab (may God be pleased with him) through fosterage, as one woman had nursed them both. 1
