Summary
Malik transmits from Nafi, from Safiyya bint Abi Ubayd, from Aisha and Hafsa, the wives of the Prophet ﷺ, that the Messenger said: it is not lawful for a woman who believes in God and the Last Day to mourn a dead person for more than three nights, except for a husband. Ibn Abd al-Barr reports that Yahya narrated the report from both Aisha and Hafsa, while other narrators said from Aisha or Hafsa with doubt, and Nafi's companions differed widely over it. 1
