Summary
Malik says it reached him that Umm Salama, wife of the Prophet ﷺ, used to say that a woman mourning gathers her hair with lote-tree leaves and oil. The editor notes that Ibn Abd al-Barr said this report is known from Umm Salama through Bukayr ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Ashajj, and that it is a long report which Malik shortened and transmitted without a Companion's name; he considers the chain of the raised report in Abu Dawud and al-Nasai weak. 1
