Summary
Yahya transmits from Malik, from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr (may God be pleased with him) ibn Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Hazm (may God be pleased with him), from Humayd ibn Nafi, from Zaynab bint Abi Salama (may God be pleased with her), that she told him these three reports. Zaynab said she entered upon Umm Habiba, wife of the Prophet ﷺ, when her father Abu Sufyan ibn Harb died. She called for perfume with yellow tinge, rubbed some on a slave-girl, then wiped her cheeks, and said: by God, I have no need of perfume, but I heard the Messenger say: it is not lawful for a woman who believes in God and the Last Day to mourn a dead person for more than three nights, except for a husband, for four months and ten days. 1
