Summary
Malik transmits from Ibn Shihab, from Said ibn al-Musayyab and Sulayman ibn Yasar, that Tulayha al-Asadiyya was married to Rashid al-Thaqafi, who divorced her, and she married again during her waiting period. Umar beat her and her husband with a whip and separated them. Umar ruled that a woman who marries during her waiting period is separated from the second husband, completes the waiting period of the first, and then the second husband is only one of the suitors. If he had consummated, they are separated, she completes the first husband's period and then the second's, and they may never reunite. Said ibn al-Musayyab adds that she is owed her dower for what was made lawful to him. 1
